A Home for Hope

ARLP program dog Hope came to us in a round-about way. Hope was rescued from a kill shelter in a southern state. At that time she had not only her own litter of puppies but another set of orphan puppies with no mother of their own. Hope took care of all of them.

The whole family was transported to another reputable Minnesota rescue and Hope was adopted. Everything seemed to be fine. Then about 1 year later, Hope was surrendered to the Animal Humane Society with a flimsy at best story. Because it was apparent that Hope was truly a special girl AHS contacted ARLP and we took Hope into our program.

Subsequently, after a woman saw one of our postings about Hope on Craig’s List, she contacted us. Lo’ and behold she had been Hope’s foster with the other rescue! She sent our Director Laura pictures of Hope with her children. There was no mistaking it….it was Hope. Fortunately, we were able to tell the woman, who clearly adored Hope just like we do, that she was in a great foster home and doing well.

Hope has now been adopted a second time. And we feel pretty good about this one stickin’. We will all miss Laura’s little shadow Hope but in the best way.

This is the way all dogs should be missed. With joy for the life that lay before them. We at ARLP are just happy to have the privilege to know these dogs if only for a little while. All the best to Hope and her new mamma!

  1. Yeah for Hope! What a long journey she has been on but it looks like a long journey to lead her to a wonderful home! Good luck Hopey!
