Punk Meets the Sugg

~ Rudy is available for adoption ~

You couldn’t ask for a happier guy! He’s up for anything, as long as he has you!

Tonight Punkie got to meet neighbor Sandy’s foster pittie Sugg. When Daph first met Sugg she wasn’t too sure about him. I mean dude got in her face! He was so happy to see her. No nicey nicey for him. A face full of Cujo is what he got. Both dogs were leashed - but Daphne made it clear there would be no funny stuff.

In his defense Sugg is a young guy and he finds it pretty hard to hide his exuberance. See Sugg spent the first 10 months (or so) of his life on a tie out in a back yard. He had little human interaction but that he received when his people came and went. If he was lucky he got a tap on the head.

When Suggs family ran into financial problems dog food was one of the first things to go. Sugg was severely underweight when Sandy finally talked the people into letting her take him. And Sandy had to work at it. They were not too sure about letting him go - even after their water was shut off. Sandy and her grandchildren took turns bringing him water. This was last August by the way and it was hot out.

Nevertheless, Sandy got Sugg. And I have personally watched him go from a scrawny little thing with horrible skin and a ratty coat to a fine handsome young devil. I have also watched Sandy diligently train this handful and it hasn’t been easy. He is a high energy guy.

Sugg has been crooning to Daphne and Debbie from across the street for a long time. He thinks they are the prettiest girls on the block! So when he finally got to meet Daph he was beside himself with joy!! He bum rushed Punkie and well that pissed her off.

So we walked up and down the block a few times and when we felt that Sugg had himself in check and that Daphne could deal we let ‘em loose in the yard. Oh boy was it game on! Lotsa good play!

Sandy and I are happy that they got a long so well! Now we can have regular play dates! And Punkie has someone she can tumble with not just run laps around the house, which is about all the physical play interaction Debbie is up to.

Then Ike, Debbie, Chi, Punk and I went on our nightly walk. Boy does walking four dogs at once get a lot of attention. One guy even pulled up and asked, “Do they all really get along?” “Yep - I said proudly, they do.”

Three dogs are sacked out on the bed (Chi is sacked out at my feet of course), the house is still and I am running a bath with lavender salts in it.

It was a good night.

  1. Well, do you blame Sugg for being so excited to see Daphne??? She’s quite a catch!!!!

Great to hear she has a playmate!!!!

    Kudos to Sandy and Lara!!!

  2. Thank you Lara, you have been a wonderful neighbor, and a wonderful dog rescuer. Just a update for the world, I found a home for sugga, with a family, and they have a rott also from rescue. It has only been one day so my heart is heavy an my eyes are still wet, but to find a forever home is what we rescue people live for, it is never easy to place a dog that you have worked so long to save from a fate worse than death. I miss sugga terrible but when I left him yesterday, he seemed to know this was his new home, and he was at peace. he spared me a long goodbye, and just went about his business of getting to know his new people, I will never forget him and his corny ways, but alas they will be another dog that needs me, and I won’t hesitate to do it all again. till then power to the pit. Your pit-ty loven friend Sandra
