B.A.D. Dogs in Jersey
Posted on June 12th, 2008 by Lara

Finally - we made it to Jersey! Despite the fact that these people love their brakes, travel at inconsistent speeds (or are unable to commit to a particular speed) and cannot not enter into the flow of traffic to save their lives it’s not that bad here.
Curious about the pit situation I started perusing the web to see how the Jersey folk approach their pit bulls. I was ecstatic to run across this gem of a program run by the Liberty Humane Society called B.A.D. Dogs. You can see footage about the program here.
This is B.A.D. Dog Sweets, isn’t she purty?

Small world! I donate to LHS and know of their program you mentioned. Which I made my mother aware of…my mother who has since volunteered for ARLP! (I’m in Jersey City, but from Mpls originally.) FYI another great locally anti-BSL deal is networking and education being done by a Brooklyn-based author (really nice, I’ve emailed with him about pitties)…the book is “Demo, the story of a junkyard dog” and it’s fantastic and ARLP as a whole should get a copy or two for its work in schools: http://www.demo-dog.com/childrens-book-story.html
fyi another Jersey-based rescue which does not breed discriminate and has done a lot of good is Eleventh Hour Rescue. As the name suggests, they pull out dogs from scheduled euths at high-kill shelters, then foster & re-home them: http://members.petfinder.org/~NJ376/Home.htm
