Tomorrow’s D.C.

Tomorrow the Fam and I am off to Washington D.C. and it appears the District has instituted unsavory policies regarding pitties.
In Washington DC, the animal control center, which is run by the Washington Humane Society under the policies and supervision of the animal control group in the Department of Health, say that they adopt out all dogs evaluated for adoption, but in reality no pit bulls are ever evaluated. A catch 22 for the poor pit bulls.
However, I ran across an interesting article from the Washington Post published last year that indicates attitudes may be moving toward change, The Rap on Pit Bulls Revisited.
I checked out a couple of the area’s shelters to see if they had some bullies on their available lists and I wasn’t disappointed.

I will be attempting to coerce the Fam into taking me to one of the shelters! I figure if it is close enough to something “touristy” they may give in. Wish me luck! I’ll bring the camera =)

I love the descriptions of the dogs on the Washington Humane Society site…so cute! And the Washington Animal Rescue League has the best categories…go getter, etc.! Very creative!
Can’t wait to hear/see what is next for you Lara! Very interesting to read about what is going on with the doggies as you travel eastward!
