All about American Pit Bull Terriers (and other bully breeds too!)

American Pit Bull Terriers are a loving family dog with endless energy and a tenacious personality. Their clown-like personality sets them apart from many breeds. It seems this misunderstood comedian is always wearing a smile and wants nothing more than to be with their family.

We cannot fault this wonderful breed for what man bred it to do. While they often times are animal aggressive this is one of the most loving dogs you can have in your family, especially with children. Despite their loving and forgiving nature with children, never leave any dog unattended around children. And, remember, it is YOUR responsibility as the adult to teach your kids how to act around animals. They need to respect them and treat them with kindness.

There are so many wonderful resources on this breed that we have started to compile a list of sites and reading material to view if you want to learn about the bully breeds. We hope this helps and if you are interested in learning even more or experiencing.

Pit Bull Rescue Central - Where Education Meets Rescue

http://www.pbrc.net/home.html

This site is a great resource for breed information, rescue resources (of course if you're in MN or the surrounding areas we'd love to be your resource), and breed legislation updates! This group really does a great job.

Boldog Training Kennel Information Site with Diane Jessup

www.workingpitbull.com

Diane Jessup has a great site about the history and working ability of the pit bull types. She lays it out in a no-nonsense, tell it like it is format. Excellent site that we highly recommend checking out.

The Real Pit Bull

www.realpitbull.com

The Real Pit Bull website was created for the sole purpose of providing useful, relevent information on the American Pit Bull Terrier (Pit Bull/American Staffordshire Terrier/AmStaff) breed. This site focuses on the breed's present and future as a companion animal and working dog partner. Our goal is to break misleading stereotypes, and offer a "new spin" on old knowledge about the raising and training of this truly unique and amazing breed. If you are looking for a website that won't get past the fighting aspect of this breed and insists that the only place for a Pit Bull is on the end of a chain, The Real Pit Bull site isn't for you! The Real Pit Bull promotes responsible rescue first and foremost, but also supports the ethical breeder. For more information on rescue and breeding, please see the "Rescue" and "Breeding" links on the navigation bar.

American Dog Breeders Association

www.adba.cc

This site has a small section on Pit Bull facts and myths that points out some common misperceptions. Also, for those interested in an APBT registry this is a good source.
