Criteria for A Rotta Love Plus DogsA Rottweiler or Pit Bull that is in the A Rotta Love Plus program is likely not a perfect dog. Maybe their coat is a little long or wavy or maybe their tail was docked a little too long. They might even still have their tail! Behaviourally, human aggression is pretty much the only thing that will prevent a dog from being saved by A Rotta Love Plus. (That and lack of foster homes). Some dogs may have issues with men that wear hats or big coats, some may not be housebroken, most have no manners or training. We can deal with that. These are workable problems.
Unruly dogs, or dog's that have no manners, is the other biggest thing we encounter. All of this comes down to training and we can deal with that too. The typical age of our rescue dogs are from 1-3 years of age. However, we take in other ages too. What about puppies? We get those in too, not as often but it happens. We take in at least one litter (sad but true that we actually get entire litters of puppies in) of rescue puppies per year and the miscellaneous 3-5 month old here and there. The dog just has to be friendly with its people and anyone they invite into their home. Basically, that is what we look for in a rescued dog. The rest can be remedied with a little patience, a lot of love, a great Rottweiler or Pit Bull savvy dog trainer, and a ton of treats. Here is a good example of the kinds of things we look for in a rescue dog. This ensures we know what sort of home the dog should be placed in. http://www.atts.org/testdesc.html
